* History:
Raynelyn's life started out simple enough. Born into a fishing family one summer evening, Rayne was destined for a life on the sea. Before she could even walk her lungs had become accustomed to the taste of salty air and the constant motion of a ship. Her twin older brothers doted on the little girl and as soon as she could keep up they showed her the ropes on the proper ways to fish, to keep animals penned so they would not hurt themselves, and to keep cargo from shifting during times of rough waters.
Her father thought the girl was a blessing from Poseidon. From an early age she picked up the fishing trade quickly. She was an ambitious little thing and would always speak about owning her own fleet of ships that would travel and trade goods over the world. Rayne would become rich and her name would be world renown.
Her mother on the other hand thought differently. Upon her 16th birthday her mother hence forbade her to go on any more fishing excursions with her father and brothers. That is the way of men and a woman myst learn to keep a home. New clothes and a hot meal for when they return. You will learn the sea is not a place for women... This way of thinking shocked Rayne into a near bout of despair. She could not think of life without the sea.
Out of respect for her mother she has stayed behind and learned the way of the home. Her mother hopes to have her married, but Rayne only longs for the sea and adventure.
Time to see, the real me.

Raynelyn absolutely despises the wintertime. The town seemed to be dead which mirrored the way the port looked. From her house on the hill normally the billowing white sails and the brown masts that signaled the arrival and departure of ships were not present. The fishing boats sat lazily tied to the docks and even the seagulls had retired to warmer waters where the fish were more abundant.
Mist floated from her lungs as she exhaled and pulled her wool scarf more tightly around her throat. Her mother had sent her to town to get some extra blankets and lard for cooking. Her father and brothers had taken the fishing sloop south to seek out warmer waters where the fish were as big as a house and the neighboring cities bountiful with goods that were foreign here. She huffed irritably with envy as her eyes scanned the empty place where they kept their boat and silently prayed to Posiedon for a safe and easy trip home. She stayed as her mother asked and assumed the house chores to make it as comfortable as ever for their return.
Pulling her boots up with a tug, she set about the route to town to fetch more wool blankets and some cloth so she would be able to start on some clothes for springtime. Though she did not enjoy the indoor tasks her mother put her to, they were her responsibility all the same.
She would continue to heed her mother until the seer found an approptiate man for her to marry. Though Rayne had never thought of finding love as a necessity, she would use the opportunity to free herself from the yokes of this life and set about doing what she has always dreamed about doing -- set off on a life of adventure on the sea.
