Demigods In addition to the Greek gods of Mount Olympus, there were also other Greek deities and various spirits which were created when immortal gods married with mortal women. Those deities were called Demigods. They had great strength and noble souls and were usually supplementing the Olympian gods' powers, but at times tended to dispute the Olympian gods' proposals. 6 of 8 Claimed OPEN [attr="class","surprise"] Skyla Wright Daughter of Poseidon

Naiads The genealogy of the Naiads varies according to geographic region and literary source. Naiads were either daughters of Zeus, daughters of various river gods, or simply part of the vast family of the Titan Oceanus. Like all the nymphs, the Naiads were in many ways female sex symbols of the ancient world and played the part of both the seduced and the seducer. Zeus in particular seems to have enjoyed the favors of countless Naiads and the other gods do not seem to have lagged far behind. The Naiads fell in love with and actively pursued mortals as well. Classical literature abounds with the stories of their love affairs with gods and men and with the tales of their resulting children. 1 of 5 Claimed OPEN [attr="class","surprise"] Klytaimnestra Lightwood Naiad Belonging to

Nereids The meaning and definition of Nereids are as follows: Definition of Nereids: The Nereids were 50 minor goddesses and sea nymphs, the daughters of the sea god Nereus and of Doris, the daughter of Oceanus. The Nereids were attendants of Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea. They were often represented in art as riding on riding on the back of dolphins or the Hippocamps (the horses of the sea), sometimes in a human form and occasionally depicted with the tail of a fish. These mythical aquatic sisters were the patrons of sailors and fishermen, who came to the aid of men in distress. Like all nymphs the Nereids sea nymphs had the gift of prophecy and divination. 0 of 5 Claimed OPEN [attr="class","surprise"] Name Naiad Belonging to

Nymphs The Nymphs were the daughters of Zeus, the King of the gods. They ranged over beautiful groves and dwelled near springs, in mountains through which rivers flowed and in woods. There were Celestial Nymphs, Sea Nymphs, Land Nymphs , Wood Nymphs and Underworld Nymphs in Greek mythology. Because of their close connection to water, a fertilizing element, the Nymphs were worshiped as daemons of fertility and vegetation. The nymphs protected the plants and animals and were also playing the role of nurses who occasionally raised human beings. 1 of 5 Claimed OPEN [attr="class","surprise"] Calista Kanas River Nymph
